About The Bakery

Fallen Milkman Bakery was started long ago, although I didn’t know it yet. From an early age I spent many hours in the kitchen baking with my mom. Pies made from the apples in the backyard and sugar cookies cut out for every holiday. I’ve always loved sweets, although I never baked much on my own outside of home.

Fast forward to my first job out of college at L.L.Bean in Maine and I found myself settled into my third apartment and spending time trying new cupcakes and baked goods. I got my first mini Kitchen-aid mixer as a Christmas gift and pretty soon was finding any opportunity to bring some baked goods into work to share. I often got good feedback as well as a true critique from some of my closest coworkers. I was also able to share my creations with the Preble Street Shelter in Portland which is a fantastic resource in the area and I was so happy to be able to provide some homemade goodies from time to time.

Now located in the Poconos, my baking is mostly enjoyed by family and friends (and a cat who loves buttercream). The short term goal for Fallen Milkman Bakery is to get a certified kitchen to start selling out of my home. Long term is to see this all the way through to a full time job.

I wouldn’t have gotten this far with the idea without the constant words of encouragement from my family and friends. <3

The Name

One of my favorite bands since I was a wee adolescent has been Alkaline Trio. I knew I wanted my name to be based off of something in the songs and in one there is a Fallen Milkman.

The song “Keep ‘Em Coming” includes the following:
“I’ve got a song stuck in my head
One that I miss more than my bed

It’s a song sung from a fallen milkman
Who’s drinking bleach instead

I’m much like him”

So there’s your explanation of the bleach-drinking milkman.

The Fallen Milkman was just too good of a name for a bakery!
